Getting data in and out of rssisawesome
There are two ways to import or export your data. As a .json
file or as an .opml
file.
JSON
You can export your entire rssisawesome archive as a JSON file. This can only be used for importing back into rssisawesome.com. This is a useful way of backing up your rssisawesome state, which otherwise exists only in the local storage of your browser and would be lost if you were to clear your browser cache.
- 👍 Includes all your feeds.
- 👍 Includes all your groups.
- 👍 Includes all your "read" history.
- 👍 Fast import (all the feed data is included in the file).
- ☠️ Not compatible with other RSS-reader apps.
- ☠️ Large file size.
OPML
An OPML file is a standard way of exporting and importing groups of RSS feeds and podcast subscriptions. You can use this to import your rssisawesome feeds into any other RSS reader app (provided they support the OPML standard, which all good reader apps do).
- 👍 Includes all your feeds.
- 👍 Includes all your groups.
- 👍 Small file size.
- 👍 Is compatible with most other RSS-reader apps.
- ☠️ Does not include your "read" history.
- ☠️ Slow import (rssisawesome has to fetch the data for each feed from the web).
Import
Danger zone!
Be aware: this will wipe all your data and you'll lose all your feeds, groups, and read-history.
